Gardeners !  Why not consider a completely natural and effective way to keep your garden free from insect pests such as aphids,   Forget those horrible pesticides which not only pollute the earth but they also kill the good insects’ such as ladybirds and lacewings, which feast on soft bodied destructive pests such as greenfly, black fly and spider mite etc.  Instead introduce ladybirds into your garden and let these ferocious little predators do the job for you.

Ladybird Larvae – The larvae look nothing like their parents, but they have the same appetite for soft bodied garden pests such as greenfly and blackfly. Each larvae will eat large numbers of pests before pupating and emerging as a ladybird. Release ladybird larvae anytime between May and August.

Adalia bipunctata,

This ladybird feeds on different types of aphids (greenflies) and can be used on a wide range of plants, indoors and out. Ladybird larvae can eat up to 100 aphids a day and at this stage of their lifecycle are not winged, which means they will not fly away and will most likely stay close to their food source. The larvae continue to eat until they are ready to pupate and become adult ladybirds. Once adults they can lay up to 20 to 50 eggs a day, which in turn hatch and eat the aphids. Adults also have a huge appetite and can devour large numbers of aphids.
